
The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani, a premier institution under the Department of Biotechnology, is recruiting for two key positions: Research Associate-I and Junior Research Fellow (JRF). These are contractual roles for a DBT-funded research project titled “INVESTIGATING THE LINK BETWEEN P53 P300S MUTATON AND COLON CANCER DEVELOPMENT USING INDIAN PATIENT SAMPLES, CELLULAR AND ANIMAL MODEL SYSTEMS.” The project is led by Principal Investigator Dr. Sagar Sengupta and Co-Investigator Dr. Arindam Maitra.
Detailed Job Descriptions and Requirements
Research Associate-I (1 Post)
- Role and Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting advanced cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and imaging experiments. This role requires flexibility and willingness to travel and work at collaborating labs outside of Bengal to perform animal experiments.
- Essential Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.S., or M.D.S. degree. Candidates with an M.V.Sc., M.Pharm, M.E., or M.Tech degree are also eligible, provided they have at least three years of research, teaching, or R&D experience and have published at least one research paper in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
- Desired Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with at least one first-author publication and prior experience in the specified experimental techniques.
- Remuneration: The position offers a consolidated salary of ₹58,000 per month, plus 27% HRA, as per DST guidelines.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (1 Post)
- Role and Responsibilities: The JRF will conduct bulk and single-cell genomics experiments, perform data analysis, and assist in manuscript writing and report generation.
- Essential Qualifications: A Postgraduate degree in Natural Sciences or a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine from a recognized university is mandatory. Additionally, candidates must have qualified a National Eligibility Test such as CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship), GATE, or other national-level examinations conducted by central government departments.
- Desired Qualifications: Prior exposure to bulk and single-cell genomics experimental and/or data analysis, along with proficiency in R and UNIX, is highly desirable.
- Remuneration: The JRF will receive a consolidated salary of ₹37,000 per month, plus 27% HRA, as per DST guidelines.
