MAHE KMC Research Opportunity 2025 Project Research Scientist-II in Multi-Omics for Ulcerative Colitis

The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, specifically the Department of Gastroenterology at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), is inviting applications for a highly specialized research position funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The selected candidate will fill the role of Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) on a critical project: “Exploring the Role of Human Gut Microbiome and Metabolites in Ulcerative Colitis: An approach Towards Clinical Implications and Precision Medicine.”

Position and Compensation

Essential Research Expertise

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as: Bioinformatics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Life Sciences.

Crucially, the applicant must demonstrate proven hands-on expertise in the following multi-omics analytical areas:

  • Gut Microbiome Analysis: Proficiency in interpreting data from techniques like shotgun metagenomics, including taxonomic and functional profiling.
  • Metabolomics Data Analysis: Experience with advanced analytical techniques such as LC-MS, GC-MS, and NMR.
  • Multi-omics Integration: Skills in integrating complex datasets through methods like microbiome–metabolome correlations, network analysis, and machine learning-based integration.

Desirable Skills

Preference will be given to candidates who also have:

  • Wet lab experience.
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis.
