
The BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) has invited eligible candidates for a walk-in interview to fill two temporary research positions. The roles are part of a high-impact project titled “Development of climate resilient chickpea and brassica by gene editing,” funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The project is being conducted under the leadership of Dr. Debasis Chattopadhyay, Scientist VII, and focuses on utilizing cutting-edge biotechnology to enhance crop resilience against climate change.
Available Positions and Eligibility
1. Research Associate-I (01 Post)
This is a senior research role intended for experienced scientists in the field of plant biotechnology.
- Emoluments: Rs. 58,000/- + 27% HRA per month.
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. degree in any branch of Biological or Life Sciences (as per DST guidelines).
- Preferred Experience: Candidates with a strong publication record and hands-on experience in genetic transformation and gene editing, specifically in Brassica crops, will be given preference.
2. Project Associate-I (01 Post)
This role is suitable for post-graduates looking to gain experience in a world-class research environment.
- Emoluments: Rs. 25,000/- + 27% HRA per month.
- Essential Qualification: Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in Plant Biology, Botany, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, or MCA.
- Guidelines: Selection will be as per the DST Office Memorandum (SR/S9/Z-05/2019).
Terms of Appointment
- Nature: Purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.
- Initial Tenure: One year, extendable based on performance and project requirements.
- Termination: The appointment can be terminated by either side with a one-month notice period.
