The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released Advertisement No. 177/2026, inviting online applications for 117 academic positions. These roles are available at NCERT Headquarters in New Delhi and its regional units in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, and Shillong.
This recruitment is a direct-hire process for candidates in diverse fields, including Bio-Science, Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Education.

Eligibility & Compensation
Eligibility criteria follow the UGC Regulations 2018 (and subsequent amendments).
1. Pay Scales (7th CPC)
- Professor: Academic Level 14 (₹1,44,200 entry pay).
- Associate Professor: Academic Level 13A (₹1,31,400 entry pay).
- Assistant Professor: Academic Level 10 (₹57,700 entry pay).
2. Qualifications at a Glance
- Professor: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience, and at least 10 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC journals.
- Associate Professor: Ph.D., Master’s with 55%, minimum 8 years of experience, and at least 7 publications.
- Assistant Professor: Master’s with 55% and must have cleared UGC/CSIR NET or hold a Ph.D. (as per 2009/2016 regulations).
Selection Process
NCERT uses a merit-based shortlisting process followed by a personal interaction.
- Shortlisting: Based on Academic Score and Research Score (UGC Appendix II, Table 2).
- Interview: Final selection is based strictly on interview performance. There is no written examination for these academic posts.
