BRIC-NABI Announces Research Fellowships for Pharmacy, Biotechnology, and Life Sciences

BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI), an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has released an official recruitment notification for various temporary research positions. The openings include Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Project Associate (PA-I & PA-II), and Research Associate (RA) across multiple cutting-edge biotechnological and agri-food research projects at its campus in Mohali, Punjab.

Position-Wise Eligibility & Scope of Work

• Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
  • Project: Pioneering bioprinting for growth in and out of orbit: one small step at a time for humankind
  • Investigator: Dr. Nitin Kumar Singhal, Scientist – F (nitin@nabi.res.in)
  • Eligibility: M.Sc. in Chemistry (Organic/Physical/Materials/Medicinal/Pharmaceutical), Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Microbiology, Food Technology; OR M.Pharm / M.S. Pharm in Process Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Pharmaceutical fields; OR M.E./M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Nanotechnology. Must have qualified a national-level exam (NET/GATE).
  • Desirable: Experience in aptamer selection, biosensors, confocal microscopy, and fluorescence microscopy.
• Project Associate-I (PA-I)
  • Project: Dissecting wheat tissue-type specific iron homeostatic transcriptional responses mediated by basic helix loop helix protein (GAP-86)
  • Investigator: Dr. Ajay K. Pandey, Scientist – G (pandeyak@nabi.res.in)
  • Eligibility: 4-year Bachelor’s in Natural/Agricultural Sciences, or Master’s in Natural/Agricultural Sciences / B.Pharm / BVSc / B.Tech / MBBS with 4 years of R&D experience in plant tissue culture; OR Master’s in Engineering/Technology with 2 years of relevant R&D experience.
  • Scope: Trait improvement and genome editing in wheat.
• Project Associate-II (PA-II)
  • Project: Multiplex CRISPR/Cas Mediated Transgene-Free Genome Editing for Developing Panama Wilt Resistance in Banana
  • Investigator: Dr. Siddharth Tiwari, Scientist – F (siddharth@nabi.res.in)
  • Tenure: Up to August 2029 (subject to performance)
  • Eligibility: Master’s in Natural/Agricultural Sciences / Biotechnology / MVSc, or Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology with 2 years of R&D experience. Must hold a national eligibility test qualification (CSIR-UGC NET/GATE or equivalent) or M.Tech in Biotechnology.
  • Desirable: Experience in CRISPR/Cas, plant tissue culture, molecular biology, and transcriptomic analysis.
• Research Associate (RA)
  • Project: Development of electrospun plastic antibodies and advanced material-based biosensing strips for efficient and facile detection of protein allergens in food products (GAP-107)
  • Investigator: Dr. Vanish Kumar, Scientist – C (vanish.kumar@nabi.res.in)
  • Eligibility: Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or related areas, accompanied by at least two first-author SCI-indexed publications.
  • Desirable: Nanomaterial synthesis, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), and biosensor platform development.
