
The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), is seeking applications for one position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-medical). This temporary role is sanctioned under an ICMR-funded project focused on cancer research.
The project is titled: “Identification of the kinase and its inhibitor(s) that potentiates irinotecan-induced phosphorylation of the proto-oncogene EVI1 in colon cancer cells.” The project investigator is Dr. S. Chakraborty.
Eligibility and Compensation
- Fellowship: The selected candidate will receive a monthly consolidated stipend of ₹56,000 + 20% HRA.
- Duration: The initial appointment will be for six months, with a possibility of extension based on the project’s continuation.
- Age Limit: The maximum age is 35 years as of October 7, 2025. Age relaxation rules of the Government of India apply.
- Essential Qualifications: A First-class Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Zoology. Alternatively, a First-class 4-year engineering degree in Biotechnology from a recognized university or institute (NIT/IIT) is also acceptable.
- Desirable Qualifications: A minimum of 4 years of laboratory research experience in solid tumor biology, leukemia biology, or medicinal chemistry. Candidates must also have at least one first or second-author publication in a reputable journal.
