BITS Pilani PhD Admission 2026 (Second Semester)

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, an Institute of Eminence, is inviting applications for admission to its PhD Program (Full-time and Part-time) for the Second Semester, commencing January 2026. Admissions are open across its campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad.

Minimum Eligibility Qualifications

Candidates must possess the relevant degree with the minimum aggregate marks (departments may set additional, specific shortlisting criteria):

M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm./MBA/M.Phil. or equivalent	60%	Minimum one year of experience in the related field.
M.Sc./B.E./B.Pharm. or equivalent	60%	Minimum one year of experience in the related field.
M.A. (for HSS admissions)	55%	Minimum one year of experience in the related field.

Financial Assistance and Support

All admitted full-time PhD students will receive a fellowship for up to five years, which may be from the Institute or Sponsored Projects.

Institute Fellowship: Full-time students will initially receive ₹37,000/- per month.
Enhancement: The fellowship may be enhanced to ₹40,000/- or ₹42,000/- after two years, based on performance review.
Contingency Grant: Institute Fellows will also receive a contingency amount of ₹20,000/- per year.
External Fellows: Students with their own UGC/CSIR NET or other fellowships will receive support as per the funding agency guidelines.
Travel Support: BITS Pilani provides International Travel Support of up to ₹1.5 lakh to full-time PhD students to present their research work at international conferences.
