The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for scientific vacancies under Direct Recruitment.

The initial posting for the selected candidates will be at ICMR-National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Belagavi, with all India transfer liability under the Council.

Scientist-D (Medical)0145 yearsMBBS or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/NMC.8 YearsDE: Research experience for population-based studies/ clinical trials/ implementation research/ health economics. DQ: MD/MS or equivalent OR MPH OR Ph.D. in a subject related to Biomedical sciences.

Note on Experience Equivalence:

  • Ph.D. will be considered as 4 years of experience.
  • MD/MS will be considered as 3 years of experience.
  • MVSc will be considered as 2 years of experience.
  • Period spent on obtaining the minimum essential educational qualification shall not count towards experience.

Selection Procedure

The selection will be based on a Computer Based Test (MCQs) or Interview or both.

  • Computer Based Test: Based on the understanding of research methods. It will be of qualifying nature with a minimum qualifying score of 75 percentile.
  • Shortlisting Criteria: Candidates fulfilling minimum eligibility (age, qualification, experience) will be initially shortlisted. If the number is high, further shortlisting will prioritize candidates with higher experience in relevant fields or higher educational qualifications (e.g., Ph.D.) as decided by the Competent Authority.

Important Application Instructions

  • Applications must be submitted online only via the ICMR recruitment portal. No offline applications will be accepted.
  • Relevant documents (educational qualification, experience, category certificates) must be uploaded with the online application.
  • In-service candidates must submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer at the time of the personal discussion, with an undertaking to be relieved within one month of receiving the appointment order.
