
The Department of Endocrinology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is seeking a highly motivated Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical). This ICMR-funded project aims to investigate the immunological differences between the “Honeymoon phase” and “Non-Honeymoon phase” in Type 1 Diabetes patients.

- Duration: 15-02-2026 to 14-02-2027 (Temporary basis).
Eligibility & Compensation
Essential Qualifications
- Master’s Degree: First Class (60% marks) in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Immunology, or Cell Biology (including integrated PG).
- Preferred: Candidates with a valid National Research Fellowship (CSIR-UGC NET, ICMR-JRF, DBT, DST-INSPIRE, or GATE).
Financials & Age Limit
- Emoluments: ₹56,000 + 20% HRA per month.
- Age Limit: As per ICMR rules and guidelines.
The Research Focus
This study specifically looks into Partial Remission (Honeymoon Phase) in Type 1 Diabetes. During this time, the surviving beta cells in the pancreas produce enough insulin to maintain blood sugar levels temporarily. The researcher will help identify the immune factors that trigger or sustain this phase.
