This position is part of a DBT-funded project aimed at the cost-effective production of $\beta$-Galactosidase and its application in synthesizing Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS).

Eligibility & Required Expertise

Essential Qualifications

• Education: M.Sc. or M.Pharm / M.S. in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or Biotechnology.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of research experience in:
  • Chemical purification techniques.
  • Small molecule synthesis and characterization.
  • Isolation and characterization of Natural Products.

Desirable Skills

• Hands-on experience with organic synthesis or material chemistry.
• Advanced knowledge of purification techniques (HPLC, Column Chromatography, etc.).

The Science: What is the BioE3 Policy?

The BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment) policy promotes high-performance biomanufacturing. This specific project addresses:

1. Circular Economy: Using dairy liquid waste as a raw material.
2. Enzyme Engineering: Scaling up the production of $\beta$-Galactosidase.
3. Nutraceuticals: Synthesizing Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), which are prebiotic fibers that promote gut health.
