Regional Centre for Biotechnology Seeks Junior Research Fellow for Drug Development Project

The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), a leading institution of national importance established by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, has announced an opening for one Project-JRF (Junior Research Fellow) position. The role is a key part of an innovative research project aimed at developing new drug targets for tuberculosis.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified young researchers to work on a high-impact project titled “Structural and biochemical analysis of EccA1+EspC complex, EccC+EsxAB complex and EccD1 transporter from M. tuberculosis ESX-1 system: Key targets for drug development.” The project is headed by Principal Investigator Dr. Prem S. Kaushal, Associate Professor. The position is initially for seven months and may be extended for up to two years based on performance.

Eligibility and Fellowship

  • Post: Project-JRF (1 Post)
  • Essential Qualifications: Candidates must have an M.Sc. in Life Sciences and have qualified a national-level eligibility test such as NET, DBT-JRF, or GATE.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on research experience in gene cloning, protein purification, and cryo-electron microscopy. Good communication skills are also a plus.
  • Age Limit: The upper age limit is 26 years as of August 31, 2025.
  • Fellowship: The selected candidate will receive a fellowship of ₹37,000 + 27% HRA per month.

Application and Interview Process

Interested and eligible candidates must apply online by August 18, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Applicants are required to upload copies of their M.Sc. mark sheet, the national-level JRF eligibility test certificate, and any peer-reviewed published manuscripts.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email by August 21, 2025, and will be required to appear for an online interview scheduled for August 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM onwards.
