
The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in New Delhi is immediately looking for a Research Associate (RA) to join the Yeast Biofuel Group. This position is part of a one-year project, supported by the DBT, focused on producing hydrocarbons from synthetic microbes. The project is titled, “Hydrocarbons from Synthetic Microbes and Scale-Up Processing.”
The selected candidate will be responsible for metabolic engineering of yeast strains using advanced synthetic biology tools. The work involves expressing foreign genes and developing processes for hydrocarbon production. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in molecular biology, genetic engineering, and excellent scientific writing skills. A willingness to explore new tools and techniques is highly desirable.
To be eligible, you must hold a Ph.D. in Life Sciences or Biotechnology with proven experience in wet lab techniques, specifically involving yeast strains. Required technical skills include in-silico vector design, DNA cloning, genetic transformation, PCR, RT-PCR, GC-MS, and Southern blot analysis.
