Post-Doctoral Fellowship at ICGEB: Opportunity in Lung Disease Research in Italy

The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), a global leader in life sciences research, is offering a post-doctoral fellowship in its Functional Cell Biology Laboratory in Trieste, Italy. The fellowship is for a highly motivated researcher to work on the “REPAir” project, which aims to discover new drug targets for severe respiratory diseases, including Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), COPD, and lung cancer.

Fellowship Details * Role: Post-Doctoral Researcher

Location: Trieste, Italy 🇮🇹
Duration: A 12-month position, with a possible extension for an additional 24 months based on funding and performance.
Salary: The annual salary ranges from €28,000 to €37,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Start Date: October 1, 2025.

Required Qualifications & Experience To be considered, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Molecular Biomedicine, Genetics, Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field. The ideal candidate will also possess:

Extensive, hands-on experience with in-vitro cell-based functional assays.
A proven ability to independently design and conduct cell-based assay development for High-Throughput Screening (HTS).
Proficiency in operating and applying software tools for automated image analysis in HTS.
Extensive experience in various cellular and molecular biology techniques.
Excellent proficiency in English, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Preference will also be given to candidates with prior experience in lung biology research, a background in infectious disease research (especially in a BSL-3 environment), or experience with laboratory automation.
