
The Prisons Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, has announced an opening for the position of Pharmacist Gr-II. This recruitment is on an outsourcing basis for the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Guntur Range, Tadepalli, as per the government orders issued in G.O.Rt.No.325, G.O.Rt.No.899, and G.O.Rt.No.900.
Position Details and Eligibility
- Post: Pharmacist Gr-II (Outsourcing basis)
- Remuneration: ₹17,500 per month
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 42 years of age as of August 31, 2025. Age relaxation is provided for reserved categories, with 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for BC/EWS, up to a maximum age of 47 years.
- Qualifications:
- A B. Pharmacy, D. Pharmacy, Pharma-D, or M. Pharmacy degree from a government-recognized institution is mandatory.
- Applicants must be registered with the Andhra Pradesh Pharmacy Council, with an up-to-date renewal.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience.
- Required Skills:
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both Telugu and English.
- Computer literacy, including efficiency in MS Office.
- Basic understanding of medical and surgical specialties and hospital administration.
- Knowledge of drug and budget indents from GMSD.
Roles and Responsibilities
The selected Pharmacist Gr-II will be in charge of the Medical Stores and will be responsible for a range of critical functions, including:
- Assessing and indenting requirements for drugs, dressings, and medical appliances.
- Maintaining stock registers for drugs, dressings, and medical equipment.
- Ensuring the quality and expiry dates of all materials in the medical stores.
- Managing the supply of chemicals and apparatus for Medical boards.
- Keeping an account of costly medicines and injections.
- Preparing bills for medicines and maintaining a dead stock register.
- Affixing the hospital stamp on all medicines to prevent pilferage.
- Calculating the cost of drugs for performance budgeting.
- Being available for emergency calls and carrying out any other duties assigned by the Medical Officer or administrative authority.

Interested candidates must submit their application in person. Applications sent by post or courier will not be accepted.
- Application Form: The form can be obtained from the Office of the Superintendent, District Jail, Guntur, or downloaded from the NIC Website.
- Submission: A duly filled-in application, along with all required self-attested documents, must be submitted directly by the candidate at the Office of the Superintendent, District Jail, Taluka compound, Brodipet, Guntur – 522002, Guntur District.
- Super-Scription: The application envelope must be clearly super-scribed with “Application for the post of Pharmacist Gr-II”.
- Deadline: The last date for application submission is September 29, 2025, by 5:00 PM.
Selection Process
The selection will be based on a two-stage process:
- Academic Merit (75%): 75% of the total marks will be allocated based on the aggregate marks obtained in your qualifying examination.
- Interview (25%): A personal interview will be conducted, with a maximum of 25% marks awarded.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the total marks from the academic qualification and the interview, strictly following the Rule of Reservation as per AP State Government guidelines. Candidates with the same total score will be ranked by age, with the elder candidate being given preference.
The date and time of the interview will be communicated via phone call or SMS, so a working mobile number is essential. Applicants who fail to attend the interview will be marked absent and given zero marks.
