
CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) in Pune is inviting applications for a temporary position as Project Associate I. The role is part of a CSIR-sponsored research project titled “Genome-Editing For Crop Improvement (GE-Crop)” and is a great opportunity for qualified chemistry graduates to gain valuable research experience.
Position and Eligibility

- Minimum Qualifications: You must have an M.Sc. or B.Tech in any branch of Chemistry or a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a specialization in chemistry. Candidates who have qualified for national-level exams like NET/GATE will be given preference.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit is 35 years, with relaxations for reserved categories.
- Desirable Skills: Experience in organic synthesis and the use of analytical techniques such as NMR, HPLC, and mass spectrometry is highly desirable. Knowledge of plant-genome editing would also be a plus.
- Salary: The consolidated monthly salary is tiered:
- ₹31,000 + HRA for candidates who have qualified for a national-level examination (NET, GATE, etc.).
- ₹25,000 + HRA for all other candidates.
Job Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Synthesizing small molecules and characterizing them using spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques.
- Performing and analyzing data from various analytical instruments, including NMR, HPLC, and mass spectrometry.
