The Opportunity: Project Associate-I (Bioinformatics Center)
We are seeking one (1) highly dedicated Project Associate-I to join our team on a purely temporary basis, contributing to the vital “Bioinformatics center (DBT BIC)” (Project Code: GAP334826). This role is ideal for those passionate about the intersection of biology, mathematics, and computation, offering hands-on experience in a leading research institution.
Who Should Apply?
Candidates possessing a Master’s or Integrated Master’s degree in Natural, Agricultural, or Pharmaceutical Sciences (including M.Pharm and M.Sc. degrees), or an equivalent qualification, are strongly encouraged to apply. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine is also eligible.

While the minimum qualifications are essential, candidates demonstrating specific skills and experiences will be highly preferred:
- Computational & Mathematical Prowess: Prior experience in mathematical or computational modeling, ideally evidenced through academic publications or significant undergraduate/Master’s projects.
- Programming Fluency: Proficiency in at least one scientific programming language such as Python, C, C++, Fortran, or Matlab.
- Data Analysis Acumen: A keen interest and foundational experience in the analysis of diverse biological data sets.
- Enthusiasm for Biological Systems: A genuine interest in the mathematical modeling of biological systems and the ability to derive insights from complex biological data.
Your Role: At the Forefront of Bioinformatics
As a Project Associate-I, you will be instrumental in:
- Developing and applying mathematical or computational models to biological problems.
- Utilizing programming languages like Python, C, C++, Fortran, or Matlab for scientific computing.
- Performing in-depth analysis of biological data, contributing to project objectives and scientific discovery.
Compensation & Duration
The position offers attractive consolidated monthly emoluments, along with HRA:
- ₹31,000 + HRA: For candidates who have qualified national-level examinations such as CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship), ICAR, ICMR NET, GATE, or equivalent examinations conducted by Central Government Departments/Agencies (e.g., DBT, DST).
- ₹25,000 + HRA: For all other eligible candidates.
The initial engagement will be for six months, with potential for extension based on project duration, satisfactory performance, and conduct. Please note, this is a purely temporary engagement and does not confer any right or claim for permanent CSIR/NCL appointment.
Age Limit: The upper age limit for applicants is 35 years, with relaxations of up to 5 years for SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
