
The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G), an autonomous Institute of National Importance established by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, is announcing a major recruitment drive. The institute is seeking to fill the temporary position of Project Scientist- III to support a critical initiative sponsored by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
The Project and Compensation
This position is for the “Technical Resource Hub under the Centre for Evidence-Based Guidelines.”
- Fellowship: The selected candidate will receive a competitive fellowship of ₹78,000 per month plus HRA (as admissible).
- Duration: The project is initially for a period of 12 months (1 Year). It has the potential for further extension based on the candidate’s performance and the continued availability of project funds.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this high-level research role, candidates must meet stringent academic and professional criteria:
- Essential Education: A Ph.D. in Health Sciences is mandatory. This must be accompanied by a first-class or equivalent grade in the preceding degree (M.Pharm./M.S./M.Sc./M.D.) in one of the following specialized areas:
- Pharmacy Practice
- Clinical Pharmacy
- Clinical Pharmacology
- Clinical Epidemiology
- Note: Candidates must possess a very good academic record throughout their studies.
- Essential Experience: A minimum of 2 years of post-Ph.D. experience in Teaching, Research, or Industry, along with a documented record of high-quality published works, is required.
- Age Limit: The maximum age limit for applicants is 45 years as of the last date of application.
Desired Expertise and Dual Role
NIPER-G is looking for a candidate with advanced research capabilities in areas such as:
- Evidence Synthesis
- Health Systems Research
- Health Economics and Outcomes Research
- Meta-research
- Clinical Research
- Biostatistics
Candidates who can demonstrate significant experience in independent research, including guiding master’s students, securing/executing sponsored projects (EMR), and publishing in SCI journals, will be highly preferred.
Dual Responsibility: In addition to their primary research duties within the DHR project, the Project Scientist-III will be assigned teaching responsibilities that align with those of an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

- Contract Note: This is a temporary contract position against the outside-funded project. The appointment does not guarantee any future claim for appointment or regularization against a permanent Institute post. The contract will terminate upon the conclusion of the project, regardless of extensions.
