
AstraZeneca, a globally recognized, science-led biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development, and commercialization of prescription medicines for the world’s most serious diseases, is inviting applications for the position of Forecasting Platform Specialist Associate in Bangalore, India.
This role is a critical component of AstraZeneca’s digital transformation journey, focusing on the deployment and maintenance of its new cloud-based forecasting platform. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between financial forecasting expertise and technical platform implementation.
Core Function and Key Responsibilities
The Forecast Platform Specialist Associate will work in close collaboration with the Global Commercial Services (GCS) Forecasting Center of Excellence (CoE), GIBEx, GA&I teams, and the external Platform vendor. The primary mission is to integrate existing, complex, and crucial Excel-based forecast models onto the new digital platform and ensure the generation of automated visualizations and reports.
Key responsibilities for this dynamic role include:
- Platform Onboarding: Taking ownership of the migration process by onboarding new or updated sections, and entire forecast models, onto the cloud platform.
- Reporting & Visualization: Creating and updating new Business Intelligence (BI) and PowerPoint reports using the platform’s native reporting solutions, ensuring automated data flow and reporting accuracy.
- Data Pipeline Management: Setting up new Out-of-Scope (OSS) data pipelines to feed necessary data into the forecasting system.
- Data Governance (Taxonomy & Synonym Lists):
- Owning and managing the addition and update of new taxonomy elements, including partnering with GIBEx/GA&I leads to secure necessary approvals.
- Collaborating with the Platform Admin and the IP&C teams to own and execute updates to the synonym list.
- Quality Assurance & Training:
- Conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for all version upgrades of the forecasting platform to validate and ensure all functionalities are working correctly.
- Developing and delivering training sessions for new users and existing team members to ensure smooth adoption and addressing implementation-related challenges.
- Platform Optimization: Providing active feedback on platform features to drive continuous enhancement and optimization of the overall solution.
Required Candidate Profile
Candidates must demonstrate a blend of strong analytical and technical skills, coupled with an in-depth understanding of biopharma commercial forecasting.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as BPharm, B.E., BSc, or BBA.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience.
- Technical & Analytical Skills:
- Excellent proficiency in Excel.
- In-depth understanding of core forecasting principles and their practical application.
- Familiarity with various forecasting methodologies (e.g., patient-based, trending-based, patient-flow based models).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication abilities for stakeholder management and user training.
- BI & Visualization: Prior experience working with other BI platforms, strong PowerPoint skills, and basic visualization capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications (Advantageous):
- Advanced Degree: An advanced degree such as a PhD, MBA, or Masters.
- Advanced Analytics: Knowledge and experience in sophisticated statistical forecast methodologies and the application of AI / ML / automation.
- Microsoft Ecosystem: Experience working with Power Apps, specifically PowerBI.
- Core Competencies: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
