
The Raman-Charpak Fellowship Program, established in honor of Nobel Laureates Prof. C.V. Raman (India) and Prof. Georges Charpak (France), has officially opened its call for applications for the 2025 session. This prestigious Indo-French Bilateral Fellowship is jointly funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the French Institute in India (IFI), and is implemented by the Indo French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA).
The primary aim of the program is to facilitate the exchange of doctoral and master’s students between the two nations, providing an opportunity to conduct part of their research or internship in a university or R&D institute in the partner country, thereby enhancing collaboration in Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Key Fellowships and Duration
The program is currently accepting applications from two main categories:

Financial Support Highlights
The fellowship provides comprehensive support to ensure a seamless exchange experience:
- For Indian Fellows (Visiting France): A generous monthly fellowship of 1710 Euros for daily expenses, local travel, accommodation, and mandatory Social Security charges.
- For French Fellows (Visiting India): A monthly fellowship of ₹40,000 for daily expenses, plus an additional accommodation support not exceeding ₹45,000 per month.
- Common Support: To and fro economy class air ticket, travel and health insurance coverage, and assistance with administrative costs for Visa and Registration.
- Additional Support: Up to Euro 500 (or equivalent in INR for French Fellows) may be provided for attending a seminar or workshop during the fellowship term.
Eligibility and Research Fields
Eligibility Snapshots:
- Age: Maximum 30 years as of April 1, 2025.
- Indian PhD Students: Must be Indian citizens, residing in India, and currently registered in the 2nd or 3rd year of their PhD program.
- French Master’s Students: Must be residing in France and registered in the Master 1 or Master 2 program.
- Ineligibility Note: Students previously supported by CEFIPRA or those with a permanent position in an institution/university are not eligible.

- Application Deadline: 10th December 2025
- Screening & Evaluation: January through March 2026.
- Result Declaration: End of March / Start of April 2026 (Tentative).
- Fellowship Start: Immediately following the declaration of results.
Applicants are strongly advised to apply early and ensure their online submission includes all mandatory documents in the prescribed format, such as the Detailed Research Plan (max 5 pages), CV (max 2 pages), No Objection Certificate (for Indian applicants), and letters of recommendation from both the home and host supervisors. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
