Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU), Gandhinagar, has announced a vacancy for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a prestigious state-funded project. The research, led by Dr. Vivek Verma, focuses on plant biotechnology—specifically examining how certain proteins (SUMO proteases) can help crops like chickpea survive harsh conditions like drought and high salinity.

This role offers a unique opportunity for M.Pharm and M.Sc. graduates to work at the intersection of molecular biology and agricultural improvement.

Project Details & Scope

Project Title: Dissecting the interactome of a chickpea SUMO protease for identifying new SUMO targets and evaluating their roles in improving drought and salinity tolerance.
Funding Agency: Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), Govt. of Gujarat.
Nature of Post: Purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.

Eligibility & Remuneration

Minimum Qualification	M.Sc / M.Tech / M.Pharm / B.Tech in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or allied areas (Min. 55% marks).
Desirable Skills	Experience in Cloning, Protein Expression, Purification, SDS-PAGE, and Western Blotting.
Age Limit	Up to 35 Years as of the closing date.
Duration	Initially 1 year; extendable up to 3 years based on performance.

Monthly Fellowship Structure:

For NET/GATE/National-Exam Qualified: Rs. 36,000/- per month (including HRA).
For Non-Qualified Candidates: Rs. 23,213/- fixed per month.
