
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced a recruitment drive for Male Indian and Gorkha (Nepal) citizens to join as Airmen in the Group ‘Y’ Medical Assistant trade for the 01/2027 Intake. This is a prestigious opportunity for pharmacy and science candidates to serve in a medical capacity within the IAF.
1. Important Recruitment Dates
Candidates must adhere to the following timeline to ensure their application is considered:

- Selection Test Dates: 30 March 2026 & 31 March 2026

2. Eligibility Criteria
The IAF has strict age and educational requirements for different entry levels:
A. For 10+2 (Science) Candidates
- Age: Must be unmarried and born between 01 January 2006 and 01 January 2010.
- Education: Passed 10+2/Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), and English.
- Marks: Minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
B. For Diploma / B.Sc in Pharmacy Candidates
- Age (Unmarried): Born between 01 January 2003 and 01 January 2008.
- Age (Married): Born between 01 January 2003 and 01 January 2006.
- Education: 10+2 with PCB (50% marks) plus a Diploma or B.Sc in Pharmacy with minimum 50% aggregate.
- Registration: Must have a valid registration from the State Pharmacy Council or Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
3. Selection Process & Physical Standards
The selection is merit-based and involves multiple rigorous stages:
- Phase I: Online Written Test.
- Phase II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT), which includes a 1.6 km run (7 min for those under 21; 7.5 min for those over 21), 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats.
- Phase III: Adaptability Test-II and a Comprehensive Medical Examination.
Mandatory Medical Standards:
- Height: Minimum 152.5 cm.
- Chest: Minimum 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion.
- Vision: 6/36 each eye, correctable to 6/6. LASIK/PRK is not accepted.
4. Salary, Training, and Benefits
- Stipend during Training: ₹14,600 per month.
- Starting Salary (Post-Training): Minimum gross emoluments of ₹26,900 per month, plus Dearness Allowance and other perks (HRA, Transport, etc.).
- Insurance: Group Insurance cover of ₹62.5 Lakhs.
- Job Role: Trained in nursing, first aid, management of medical stores, and ward supervision.
