The National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (BRIC-NIAB), an autonomous institution under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), has invited applications for its prestigious Ph.D. program for the 2026-2027 academic session. Located in the heart of the Gachibowli educational hub in Hyderabad, NIAB offers a world-class environment for basic and translational research.

Eligibility & Selection

Criteria	Requirements
Academic	Master’s (M.Sc., M.Tech., M.V.Sc., M.Pharm) or MBBS/B.Tech (4 years) in Life Sciences.
Fellowship	Must have a valid national fellowship (CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE NET JRF) valid for 5 years.
Exclusions	Candidates with only GATE, MPAT, or other non-fellowship certifications are not eligible.
Selection Process	Round 1: Online Video Interview (May 11-12, 2026). Round 2: In-person Interview (June 2026).

Research Frontiers at NIAB

Selected students will have the opportunity to work in diverse, multidisciplinary areas:

Health & Diseases: Host-microbe interactions, AMR mitigation, vaccines, and diagnostics.
Reproduction & Production: Endocrinology, gene/protein engineering, and nutrigenomics.
Omics & Bioinformatics: GWAS, Multiomics, AI, and Machine Learning.
Nanotechnology: Nanobiology, aptamers, and biosensors.
Regenerative Medicine: Stem cells, transgenics, and organoids.
