
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali is seeking a highly motivated Project Research Scientist to join Prof. Samrat Mukhopadhyay’s lab. This role is part of an externally funded ICMR project focusing on the cutting-edge area of protein phase separation in cancer research.
Project Overview
- Project Title: Phase Separation of Fusion Oncoproteins
- Lab: Prof. Samrat Mukhopadhyay’s Lab
- Focus Area: Investigating how fusion oncoproteins undergo liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and its role in disease.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
- M.Sc. / M.S. or an equivalent degree in Biological Sciences or Allied Sciences.
2. Required Technical Experience
Candidates must have demonstrated hands-on experience in:
- Molecular Biology: Cloning and genetic manipulation.
- Protein Engineering: Recombinant protein expression and purification.
- Biophysical Characterization: Using techniques to study protein structure and behavior.
- Advanced Imaging: Confocal microscopy and phase separation assays.
3. Mandatory Research Output
- The candidate must have at least one first-author or joint-first-author publication in a reputed biology journal.
4. Preferred Skills
- Experience with Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs).
- Specific expertise in phase separation assays.
Job Details & Remuneration
- Position: Project Research Scientist – 1 (Non-Medical)
- Monthly Salary: Rs. 56,000/-
- Duration: Two years or until the project concludes (whichever is earlier).
- Location: IISER Mohali, Punjab.
