Jamia Hamdard Announces Senior Research Fellow (SRF) Vacancy in Virology & Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry at Jamia Hamdard’s School of Chemical and Life Sciences is inviting applications for a Senior Research Fellow (SRF). This high-level research position is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under the Advanced Research Program (ARG).

The project tackles a critical public health question: how maternal diet—specifically exposure to common food additives—might influence a child’s vulnerability to brain infections.


Project Overview: The Diet-Brain Connection

The research aims to investigate if exposure to dietary emulsifiers during pregnancy compromises the blood-brain barrier, thereby increasing the risk of Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) infection in offspring.

Who Should Apply? (Eligibility)

Candidates must possess a strong academic background combined with specific laboratory expertise.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: M.Sc. (min. 55%) in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Molecular Medicine.
  • National Exams: Must be CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship) or GATE qualified, or selected through national-level exams (DBT, ICMR, DST, etc.).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of research experience in relevant areas.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mammalian cell culture, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, cloning, and siRNA transfection.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of Virology and experience in animal handling.
  • Hands-on experience with high-end equipment like Confocal microscopy, Fluorescence microscopy, or FACS.
