NIPGR Vacancy: Young Professional-II for Ginger Pangenome & Genetic Mapping Project

The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) has announced an opening for a Young Professional-II (YP-II) to join a high-tech multi-institutional project funded by ICAR-NASF. Under the leadership of Dr. Shailesh Kumar, the project focuses on cutting-edge genomics: “Pangenome Delineation and Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) for NLRome and Structural Variation for Seed Sterility Mapping in Ginger.”

This is a premier opportunity for bioinformaticians and data scientists to work on the complex genetic architecture of Zingiber officinale.

Position Overview

The role involves analyzing structural variations and the “NLRome” (genes involved in plant immunity) to solve the mystery of seed sterility in ginger.

Eligibility & Desirable Skills

NIPGR is looking for candidates with a strong technical background in computational biology.

Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences.
Experience: Minimum one year of research experience specifically in:
- Bioinformatics
- Data Science
- Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Citizenship: Applicants must adhere to Govt. of India reservation and employment norms.
