The Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), a leading national R&D laboratory under the CSIR, is inviting motivated graduates to join its marine biotechnology projects. These positions offer a unique opportunity to work on seaweed cultivation and biochemical characterization at two strategic locations: Mandapam (Tamil Nadu) and Bhavnagar (Gujarat).
Research Domains & Locations
The recruitment is divided into two distinct post codes based on the specialization and research focus.
Post Code 01: Marine Algal Research Station (MARS)
- Location: Mandapam, Tamil Nadu (02 Posts)
- Essential Qualification: Master’s in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Marine Biology, Botany, or Zoology. B.Tech in Biotechnology is also eligible.
- Job Role: Focused on field and tank-based seaweed cultivation and taxonomy.
- Desirable: Practical experience in Ulva cultivation or seaweed collection.
Post Code 02: Analytical & Environmental Science
- Location: Bhavnagar, Gujarat (02 Posts)
- Essential Qualification: Master’s in Microbiology or Botany.
- Job Role: Maintaining sterile seaweed cultures and performing advanced biochemical characterization.
- Desirable: Expertise in algal sample preparation for analytical instruments like HPLC and GC-MS.
Monthly Emoluments & Age Limit
Stipends are provided based on national-level eligibility:

- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years (Relaxations as per CSIR norms).
