
The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad—an autonomous research institute under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India—has invited online applications for its PhD-I-2027 program commencing in January 2027. Admitted research scholars will be registered for their doctoral degree under the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB).

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualifications: Master’s degree in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture, OR an MBBS degree from a recognized university/institution.
- Fellowship Mandate: Holding an active, independent Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, DST-INSPIRE, UGC-RGNF, or equivalent agencies is strictly mandatory.
- Ineligibility Conditions:
- Candidates with Project-JRF under ICMR-funded projects (2-year limit).
- DBT-JRF NET with a B.Tech (Biotechnology) qualification.
- Candidates listed under DBT–B category list.
- Candidates possessing only Lectureship (LS-NET) in CSIR-UGC NET.
- Candidates who have previously activated their fellowship elsewhere (non-disclosure leads to immediate disqualification).
- Result-Awaited Candidates: Applicants awaiting final fellowship confirmation must send proof of their active fellowship award to
rsp@cdfd.org.inbefore the first round of interviews.
Selection Framework
- Round 1 (Online Interview): Conducted via video conference between 2–4 November 2026.
- Round 2 (In-Person Interview): Conducted on-site at the CDFD campus, Hyderabad, between 2–4 December 2026.
- Residential Requirement: The PhD program is strictly residential; admitted scholars must reside on the CDFD campus.
