Walk-in Interview at INST Mohali for Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) Under ICMR Scheme: Monthly Fellowship of ₹56,000 + HRA

The Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali—an autonomous research institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India—has announced a walk-in interview for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical).
The position is purely contractual and is sanctioned under an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded research project titled “Bioinspired Electro-Mechanoresponsive peptide polymer Hydrogels for Enhancing Muscle Regeneration and in vivo Sarcopenia management.” The research work will be executed jointly under Principal Investigator Dr. Asish Pal (Scientist-G, INST Mohali) alongside Co-Principal Investigators Dr. AsifKhan Shanavas (INST Mohali) and Dr. Santosh Kumar Misra (IIT Kanpur). Candidates selected for this position are also eligible to apply for the regular Ph.D. program at INST Mohali, subject to meeting standard institute norms.

Remuneration & Age Limit
- Monthly Fellowship: ₹56,000/- per month + applicable HRA as per ICMR/INST guidelines.
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years as on September 28, 2026. Upper age limit relaxations apply for reserved category candidates in line with Government of India rules.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Essential Qualifications:
- First-Class Master’s / Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Material Science, Polymer Science, or Nanotechnology.
- Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
- National entrance qualification such as GATE, GPAT, or CSIR-UGC-NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or equivalent.
- Practical research background in hydrogel synthesis, cell culture methods, small animal handling, peptide and organic synthesis, polymer characterization, or PCR techniques.
- Demonstrated scientific writing capability through peer-reviewed research publications.
- Job Responsibilities:
- Synthesis and formulation of peptide-polymer conjugated biomaterials and electro-responsive hydrogels.
- Physicochemical and mechanical characterization of hydrogels along with in vitro cell scaffold evaluations.
- Willingness to travel and work at IIT Kanpur to carry out animal model (in vivo) experimental studies.
