Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification & Experience
- Candidates must hold a B.Sc. (Chemistry) or a B.Pharm. degree from a recognized university.
- Mandatory Experience: A minimum of one year of work experience in the testing and analysis of drugs is compulsory for all applicants regardless of their qualifying degree.
2. Age Limits (As of August 1, 2026)
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Unreserved (General Male): 37 years
- Unreserved Female: 40 years
- Backward Class / Extremely Backward Class (Male/Female): 40 years
- Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (Male/Female): 42 years
- Relaxations: PwD candidates receive an additional 10 years of relaxation. Specific relaxations also apply to eligible Bihar government employees, contractual workers in public/non-private labs within Bihar, and ex-servicemen (up to 57 years max). Candidates can claim only one category of age relaxation.
Selection Process & Merit Calculation
The final selection is based on a combined score out of 100 marks, derived from a Written Competitive Examination and prior work experience:
- Written Competitive Examination (Computer Based Test): Contributes a maximum of 75 marks to the final merit. The raw percentage obtained by a candidate in the CBT is multiplied by 0.75.
- Work Experience: Contributes a maximum of 25 marks. Eligible contractual experience in non-private, public, or government laboratories within Bihar awards 5 marks per completed year (proportionate marks apply for partial years).
Written Examination Pattern & Rules
- Format: Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions in both Hindi and English.
- Duration: 2 hours (400 total marks).
- Marking Scheme:
- +4 marks for every correct answer.
- −1 mark for every incorrect answer (Negative Marking).
- Normalization: Applied to results if the examination is conducted across multiple shifts.
- Minimum Qualifying Thresholds:
- General / Out-of-state candidates: 40%
- Backward Class (BC): 36.5%
- Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 34%
- SC / ST / Women / PwD: 32%
