ICMR-NINE Announces Scientist-D Career Opportunity for PharmD Candidates

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has released an official notification for recruitment, presenting a significant career opportunity for PharmD professionals at the ICMR-National Institute of NCD Epidemiology (ICMR-NINE).

Position and Salary Details

Designation: Scientist-D (Non-Medical)
Number of Vacancies: 01
Pay Scale: Level 12 of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 78,800 – 2,09,200 under the 7th CPC Scale) along with usual allowances admissible to ICMR employees on a regular basis under Direct Recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree from a recognized university in a subject related to Biomedical Sciences OR a PharmD degree recognized by the UGC/PCI.
Essential Experience: 8 years of experience.
Desirable Qualifications (DQ): Ph.D. from a recognized university in a biomedical sciences-related subject.
Desirable Experience (DE): Research & Development experience relevant to job requirements, such as Biostatistics or Data Sciences in Government, Public sector, or Private institutions.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 45 years, with relaxations applicable per Government of India instructions.

Important Notes on Experience Calculation

A Ph.D. is considered equivalent to 4 years of experience (regardless of the duration taken to complete the degree).
The time spent obtaining the minimum essential educational qualification is not counted toward experience.
Qualifications and experience may be relaxed for exceptionally meritorious candidates with approval from the DG, ICMR.

Selection Procedure & Application Guidelines

Selection Process: Based on a computer-based test (MCQs), an interview, or both. The computer-based test assesses research methods understanding and serves as a qualifying stage with a minimum threshold of the 75th percentile.
Application Fee: A non-refundable fee of Rs. 1,500 is required, though SC, ST, Women, PWD, and EWS candidates are exempted.
