
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Berhampur has announced a recruitment drive for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position. This is a temporary and contractual role for a research project titled, “Probing the significance of membrane contact sites in the persistence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.” This project is a crucial step in understanding the behavior of the bacterium responsible for tuberculosis, a major global health concern. The position is ideal for candidates with qualifications in B.Pharm, M.Sc., and related fields.
Position and Eligibility Details

- Fellowship: The selected candidate will receive ₹37,000 per month + HRA (as per CSIR norms).
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Essential Qualification: A bachelor’s or master’s degree (B.S. 4-year, B.Pharm, MBBS, Integrated BS-MS, M.Sc., B.E., or B.Tech) with at least 55% marks.
- National-Level Test: Candidates must have qualified a national-level examination such as NET/GATE as per CSIR guidelines.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years, with a relaxation of up to 5 years for candidates from SC/ST/OBC, women, and physically handicapped individuals.
Key Responsibilities and Application Process
The JRF will be responsible for a range of experimental tasks, including:
- Macrophage infection experiments
- Cell biology experiments
- Immunofluorescence
- Western blotting
- RT-PCR and Cloning
