The CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, has announced a high-level research vacancy for a Project Associate-I. This project, funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), focuses on advanced synthetic organic chemistry, making it an ideal role for M.Pharm or M.Sc. graduates with a passion for drug discovery and complex molecule synthesis.
Project Focus: Advanced C—H Functionalization
The project, titled “Photoredox-Mediated Site-Specific Direct Cross-Dehydrogenative C—H Functionalization…”, aims to revolutionize how we build complex natural products.
Instead of traditional multi-step methods, this research uses photoredox catalysis (light-driven chemistry) to directly modify specific bonds in molecules like dihydropyran and dihydrofuran. This is a “strategic route” used in modern pharmaceutical manufacturing to create life-saving drugs more efficiently.
