IISER Tirupati Fellowship: Open Philanthropy Funds Global Health Research for Pharma Graduates

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati has announced a prestigious research opening for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate I. Funded by Open Philanthropy, this project is part of a global effort to enhance pandemic preparedness by developing novel antiviral platforms against high-consequence pathogens.

The research will specifically target Henipaviruses, such as the Nipah and Hendra viruses, which are known for their high fatality rates and zoonotic transmission.

Role & Remuneration

This temporary position offers an initial six-month tenure, renewable based on performance, and provides an excellent stepping stone for candidates looking to enter the regular PhD program at IISER Tirupati.

Stipend (NET/GATE/National Level Exam): ₹37,000 + 9% HRA.
Stipend (Others): ₹30,000 + 9% HRA.
Mentor: Prof. Guruprasad R. Medigeshi.

Eligibility Requirements

Educational Background: B.Pharm, BVSc, Master’s in Natural/Agricultural Sciences, or a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology/Biomedical Engineering.
Desirable Experience: Candidates with a background in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and virus assays will be preferred.
Age Limit: Maximum 30 years as of the interview date.
