R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital Seeks Research Assistant for Viral Surveillance Project

R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata is inviting applications from eligible Indian citizens for the temporary and contractual post of a Research Assistant. This position is part of a DHR/ICMR-funded research project titled “Pan India surveillance for respiratory viruses through DHR-ICMR VRDL Network – strengthening VRDLs in West Bengal and Kerala.” The selected candidate will work within the Department of Microbiology at the hospital.

Remuneration: The salary is a consolidated ₹31,000 per month.
Age Limit: The upper age limit for applicants is 45 years as of September 1, 2025.
Contract Term: The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on the candidate’s performance and the project’s requirements. This is a purely contractual role and does not guarantee a permanent position.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification: A Post Graduate degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or Biotechnology from a government-recognized university is mandatory.
Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with higher academic qualifications, working knowledge of MS Office and data management, and prior experience in similar project work will be given preference. Familiarity with local languages is also a plus.
