BHU Walk-in Interview: Research Opportunities in Agriculture & Life Sciences

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the historic “Temple of Learning,” is inviting eligible candidates for a walk-in interview on January 30, 2026. The positions are for a high-impact DBT-funded project focused on the genetic improvement of bread wheat for disease resistance.

The project, titled “Study of the Complex Genetic System for Developing a Package of R/S Genes to Breed for Spot Blotch Resistance in Bread Wheat,” offers a platform for researchers to contribute to global food security.

Available Research Positions

These positions are based at the Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU.

1. Research Associate-I (RA-I)

Emoluments: ₹58,000 + 18% HRA per month.
Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Genetics & Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Plant Biotechnology, or related Life Science disciplines.
Desirable: Proven expertise in molecular biology or genomic pipelines, evidenced by two (02) first-author publications in SCI-indexed journals.
Age Limit: 40 Years.

2. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Emoluments: ₹37,000 + 18% HRA per month.
Essential Qualification: PG in Genetics & Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Botany, or Life Sciences (min. 55%).
Requirement: Must have qualified National Level Tests (ICAR, CSIR, UGC-NET, or GATE).
Age Limit: 28 Years.

Project Duration: 3 years (Initial engagement for 1 year, extendable based on performance).
