JIPMER Research Opportunity: Scientist Role in ICMR-Funded AES Surveillance Project

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has announced a high-level research opening in its Department of Microbiology. This position is part of a crucial ICMR-funded nationwide initiative: Hospital-Based Surveillance of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES).

This project aims to strengthen India’s diagnostic network and understand the infectious etiologies of AES, a critical public health concern.

Essential Qualifications

Option A: 1st Class Master’s degree in Life Sciences + 2 years of related experience.
Option B: 2nd Class Master’s Degree + Ph.D. in a relevant subject.

Desirable Skills

Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Veterinary Sciences with 1 year of R&D experience.
Hands-on experience with molecular techniques (Real-time PCR, ELISA) and clinical samples.
Knowledge of GLP, LQMS (ISO 15189), and Data Management tools.

Role & Responsibilities

The selected scientist will act as a coordinator for all research activities, which includes:

Managing reagent distribution and supplies across centers.
Troubleshooting laboratory assays.
Ensuring laboratory quality management and NABL standards are met.
Data management and interaction with collaborative research sites.
