Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) Announces JRF Opening Under GSBTM-Funded Probiotic Research Project

Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU), Gandhinagar, invites online applications from eligible candidates for one (01) post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the research project titled “Unveiling Gujarat’s Probiotic Treasures ‘Dahi- दहि निधि:’: An initiative toward ‘vocal for local'”, funded by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), Government of Gujarat.

Position Summary & Remuneration

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Vacancies: 01 Post
Age Limit: Up to 35 years as on the closing date of the application.
Duration: Till the conclusion of the project, subject to satisfactory performance.
Monthly Fellowship:
- Rs. 36,000/- per month (inclusive of HRA): For candidates who have qualified national-level examinations such as CSIR-UGC-NET / GATE / DBT-JRF / ICMR-JRF.
- Rs. 23,213/- fixed per month: For candidates without national-level examination qualification (per GSBTM, DST, Government of Gujarat guidelines).

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification: M.Sc. or M.Tech in Biotechnology, Dairy Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a relevant life sciences discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Qualified CSIR-UGC-NET / DBT-JRF / ICMR-JRF / GATE or equivalent national-level exams.
- Practical experience in bacterial cultivation, identification and characterization, microbial consortia development, metagenomics, and analytical/molecular biology techniques (such as LC-MS and GC-MS).
- Demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing and documentation.
