
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala has issued an official recruitment notification inviting applications from Indian citizens for the regular post of Pharmacist. The position falls under Pay Level 5 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) and will be filled on a direct recruitment basis through a competitive examination.

- Pay Scale: Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5,200 β 20,200) with Grade Pay of Rs. 2,800/- (Pay Level 5 under 7th CPC).
- Probation Period: 1 Year.
- Career Upgradation Path:
- After 2 years of regular service in GP Rs. 2,800/-, the candidate receives Non-Functional Upgradation (NFU) to GP Rs. 4,200/- (PB-2) and redesignation as Senior Pharmacist.
- Senior Pharmacists with 7 years of service (minimum 5 years in GP Rs. 4,200/-) can be considered for promotion to Pharmacist (Selection Grade II) in GP Rs. 4,600/-.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age Limit: Maximum 27 years for unreserved candidates (minimum 18 years). Standard age relaxations apply for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, and internal contractual/departmental candidates per Government of India norms.
- Educational Qualifications & Registration:
- 10+2 in Science stream (PCB or PCM) from a recognized Board/University.
- And
- 2-year Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) with First Class from a PCI-recognized institution, plus at least 2 years of experience in a recognized hospital or pharmacy.ORBachelorβs Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a recognized institution.
- Mandatory: Valid registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
Selection Scheme & Examination Pattern
Per DoPT guidelines, no personal interview will be conducted. Final selection is based solely on performance in a single 100-mark Computer-Based Test (CBT), consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs):
- Part I (General Aptitude): English Language, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, and Numerical Ability (Matriculation level).
- Part II (Core Pharmacy Domain): Complete pharmacy curriculum, including Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Jurisprudence.
