
CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow, a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has released a recruitment notification inviting candidates for walk-in interviews to fill 64 temporary positions across various R&D projects. Established in 1959, the institute specializes in end-to-end research on medicinal and aromatic plants, encompassing genetic improvement, agronomic practices, bioprospecting, and value addition.
The drive aims to engage candidates in multidisciplinary scientific and technical capacities on a contractual basis across its specialized ongoing research initiatives.
Overview of Positions & Remuneration
- Project Scientist-III (PS-III): Requires a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, or Bioinformatics along with 7 years of post-qualification R&D experience. Monthly emolument is fixed at Rs. 78,000/- plus applicable HRA.
- Project Scientist-I (PS-I): Open to doctoral degree holders in Chemistry/Life Sciences or M.Tech in Chemistry/Perfumery with at least 4 years of fragrance and flavour formulation experience. Monthly stipend is Rs. 56,000/- plus HRA.
- Senior Project Associate (Senior PAT): Requires either a Ph.D. or an M.Sc./Master’s degree in relevant disciplines (Life Sciences, Agricultural Economics, Extension, Mass Communication) combined with 2 to 3 years of demonstrable research or field extension experience. Emoluments are Rs. 42,000/- plus HRA.
- Project Associate-II (PAT-II): Open to candidates with an M.Sc., M.Pharma, M.Tech, or B.E./B.Tech in relevant domains (Microbiology, Botany, Chemistry, Soil Science, IT, Geoinformatics) with a minimum of 2 years of proven research experience. Emoluments stand at Rs. 35,000/- plus HRA for GATE/CSIR-UGC NET-LS qualified individuals, and Rs. 28,000/- plus HRA for non-NET/GATE candidates.
- Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Targeted at postgraduates in Chemical Sciences, Pharmacy (M.Pharm in Natural Products/Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutics/Pharmacology), Life Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or B.Tech in Biotechnology/Mechanical/Chemical/IT. Selected candidates receive Rs. 31,000/- plus HRA (for NET/GATE qualifiers) or Rs. 25,000/- plus HRA (for non-NET/GATE applicants).
- Project Technical Support-III (PTS-III): Requires an M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Zoology, or Microbiology with preference for animal handling experience. Stipend is Rs. 28,000/- plus HRA as per ICMR guidelines.
- Project Assistant-II (PA-II): Minimum requirement is a B.Sc. in Biology/Agriculture or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology. Monthly remuneration is Rs. 20,000/- plus HRA.

Important Terms & Document Requirements
- Engagement Nature: Purely contractual and co-terminus with the respective project, initially valid for one year, extendable based on performance up to a ceiling of five years.
- Screening Mode: Direct interview; however, a preliminary written test will be conducted if the applicant volume is exceptionally high on any date.
- Mandatory Submissions: Applicants must produce original degree certificates, experience letters, one complete set of self-attested photocopies, and one recent passport-sized photograph.
- Institutional Verification: Web-downloaded mark sheets or transcripts are accepted only if formally verified and signed by the Controller of Examinations, Registrar, or College Principal.
- Restrictions: Final-year or result-awaited candidates are ineligible to participate. No online interview requests will be accommodated, and no travel allowance (TA/DA) is provided.
