The Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL) in Chandigarh—operating under the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare—has officially announced a recruitment notification. Established in November 2007, RDTL Chandigarh is one of the seven premier National Drugs Testing Laboratories in India, equipped with advanced infrastructure, instruments, and personnel dedicated to the quality control, chemical, microbiological, and instrumentation analysis of drugs and cosmetic products. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the prestigious post of Director on a deputation basis.

- Pay Scale (7th CPC): Pay Level 13 (₹123,100 – ₹215,900)
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
The position is open to officers of the Central Government, State Governments, Union territory administrations, autonomous/statutory organizations, public sector undertakings, universities, or recognized research institutions who meet the following combined criteria:
- Service & Experience Criteria (Choose one of the following paths):
- (a) Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department while holding a PhD; or
- (b) Possessing 5 years of regular service rendered after appointment to a post in Level 12 (₹78,800 – ₹209,200) of the pay matrix (or equivalent) in the parent cadre or department; or
- (c) Possessing 10 years of regular service rendered after appointment to a post in Level 11 (₹67,700 – ₹208,700) of the pay matrix (or equivalent) in the parent cadre or department.
- Essential Educational & Professional Qualifications:
- Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology, or Biotechnology from a recognized University or Institute.
- Professional Experience: 12 years of experience in drugs testing, standardization, and research from a recognized institute.
- Desirable Qualification: A Doctorate Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology, or Biotechnology from a recognized University or Institute.
Key Conditions & Appointment Limits
- Maximum Age Limit: Applicants must not exceed 56 years of age as of the closing date for receipt of applications.
- Deputation Period: The deputation period (including short-term contracts) will ordinarily not exceed 5 years.
- Exclusions: Departmental feeder officers in the direct line of promotion are not eligible for deputation consideration, and conversely, deputationists are not eligible for appointment by promotion.

- Application in the prescribed format (Annexure II), duly filled, signed by the candidate, and countersigned with a seal by the Cadre/Appointing Authority.
- Self-attested copies of Date of Birth and Master’s Degree certificates.
- Attested copies of APARs/ACRs for the last 5 years, duly attested on each page by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Government of India.
- Integrity Certificate.
- Vigilance Clearance Certificate.
- Statement of major or minor penalties imposed on the officer during the last 10 years of service, if any.
- Verification certificate confirming that particulars furnished by the candidate are correct as per service records.
- Cadre Clearance Certificate.
