The Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is hosted under a specialized sponsored research project by the Center of Excellence in Emerging Materials (CEEMS), a collaborative initiative between TIET and Virginia Tech, USA (TIET-VT).
The project centers around the groundbreaking title: “C-H Functionalization Strategies for Bioactive Theranostic Probes Targeting UTI- Causing Bacteria and their Application in Diagnostic Device Development.” This interdisciplinary work aims to develop innovative diagnostic solutions and targeted therapeutics against urinary tract infection-causing pathogens, combining advanced organic synthesis with medical diagnostic device engineering.
Fellowship Structure and Academic Growth
- Duration: The initial appointment is for 1 year, with potential extensions for up to three years contingent upon satisfactory performance.
- Principal Investigator: The project is led by Dr. Kamaldeep Paul, Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at TIET.
- Ph.D. Integration: Candidates selected for the fellowship are provided the unique opportunity to register for the full-time Ph.D. program at TIET, subject to meeting standard university admission norms.
Eligibility Criteria and Financial Support
Applicants must meet specific academic thresholds to be considered for the role:
- Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry or M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, achieving a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or a 7.0 CGPA.
- Desirable Attributes: Demonstrated research potential through prior projects, a Master’s thesis, strong academic credentials, and hands-on laboratory experience in organic synthesis. Preference will be given to candidates who hold valid national-level test scores.
- Stipend Structure:
- GATE/GPAT/NET Qualified Candidates: Rs. 45,000/- per month.
- Non-GATE/NET Candidates: Rs. 30,000/- per month.
