
The National Institute of Immunology (NII), a premier research institution focused on advanced immunological studies, has announced a recruitment drive for a Project Scientist-III position. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned researcher to contribute to a critical, time-bound project focused on strengthening India’s defense against existing and emerging pathogens.
The selected candidate will work on the DBT-funded project titled, “Establishment of new and augmentation of existing (A) BSL3 facilities at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi to improve research and diagnostics of existing and emerging bacterial and viral pathogens.” This project is set to run until April 27, 2030, offering a stable and long-term engagement.
Key Role and Responsibilities
As a Project Scientist-III, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in the SAHAJ project. The primary responsibilities will include:
- Handling bacterial and viral pathogens and laboratory animals within advanced Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) and Animal Biosafety Level 3 (ABSL-3) facilities.
- Coordinating and conducting experiments for both internal and external users of the SAHAJ facilities.
- Assisting with additional tasks and protocols as assigned by the Facility In-Charge.
Qualifications and Experience
This is a senior position requiring a high level of expertise.
- Essential Qualifications: A Doctoral degree in Science or a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university. Additionally, candidates must have seven years of experience in Research and Development within academic, industrial, or scientific organizations.
- Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with prior hands-on experience in BSL-3 and/or ABSL-3 laboratories are highly preferred. Experience with bacterial and viral pathogens, cell culture, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, and immunological assays will be a significant advantage.
Emoluments and Application Process
The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly emolument of Rs. 78,000, along with a 27% HRA. The upper age limit for the position is 45 years, with relaxations applicable as per Government of India rules.
