PhD Admissions 2026: National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG)

The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani, is inviting applications from motivated candidates for its residential PhD Programme. This is a premier opportunity for researchers interested in human disease genomics using cutting-edge technologies like CRISPR-Cas9, single-cell sequencing, and advanced bioinformatics.

Research Areas

Candidates can pursue interdisciplinary research in the following domains:

Chronic & Metabolic Diseases: Diabetes, neurodegeneration, and host-microbiome analysis.
Infectious & Immune Disorders: Tuberculosis, autoimmunity, and novel immunotherapies.
Cancer Biology: Tumor microenvironment, personalized therapies, and progression targets.
Computational & Systems Biology: Single-cell transcriptomics, gene-environment interactions, and computational genomics.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the interview, applicants must meet the following three conditions:

Feature	Requirement
Academic Qualification	Master’s degree or 4-year B.Tech in any branch of Science with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD).
Mandatory Fellowship	Must have a valid JRF (CSIR-UGC, DBT, ICMR, BINC, NBHM, or equivalent). Validity must extend at least until Dec 31, 2026.
Ineligibility	DST-INSPIRE, ICAR Fellowship, or candidates with only GATE/NET (LS) without JRF are not eligible.

Age Limit: Maximum 28 years (Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/Women/PWD; 3 years for OBC).
