
The Department of Molecular & Human Genetics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, has announced a recruitment notification for one Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) position. The post is sanctioned under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded research project titled “Molecular pathology of cervical carcinogenesis: Role of telomere in predisposition of cervical cancer and modulation of telomere function in cervical cancer cells” (Project Code: P-14/0807), led by Principal Investigator Prof. Gopeshwar Narayan.
Position & Financial Emoluments
- Designation: Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)
- Vacancies: 01 (One)
- Consolidated Remuneration: ₹56,000/- + 20% HRA (₹11,200/-) = ₹67,200/- per month
- Tenure: Purely temporary, co-terminus with the project (maximum 1 year)
Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualifications (Any one of the following):
- First-class Master’s degree (including integrated Master’s) in Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Molecular & Human Genetics / Zoology / Animal Science / Life Sciences.
- Second-class Master’s degree (including integrated PG) with Ph.D. in any of the above-mentioned disciplines from a recognized University.
- For Engineering/IT/CS graduates: First-class 4-year Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of relevant research experience in the above biological science fields.
- Mandatory Test: Must have qualified NET / GATE or equivalent national-level examination.
- Desirable Experience:
- Hands-on experience in human cell culture handling.
- Familiarity with telomere function assays, telomere length analysis, confocal microscopy, q-FISH, and standard molecular biology techniques.
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years. Relaxations:
- 3 years for OBC candidates
- 5 years for SC / ST / PwD / Female candidates
