
The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), a prestigious institution under the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has announced a significant career opening for a Research Associate. This is a prime opportunity for highly qualified and passionate researchers to join a team dedicated to groundbreaking work. The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 73,660.
This position is a part of the “Research and Innovation in AYUSH Component of Ayurgyan” project. It will be a stepping stone for an individual to contribute to the discovery and development of herbal drugs for cancer, merging traditional knowledge with modern biomedical research.
Eligibility and Experience
ACTREC is looking for candidates who can take on a leadership role in a state-of-the-art laboratory. The educational requirements are stringent and designed to attract top talent:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant life sciences field such as Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Pharmacoinformatics, Bioanalytical Sciences, or Pharmaceutical Sciences, with at least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
- Alternatively, candidates with an M.Sc., M.Tech, or M.Pharm in the specified subjects are eligible, provided they have a minimum of four years of research experience.
Desirable skills that will give a candidate a strong advantage include hands-on experience in in-vitro assays, in-vivo disease models, and in-silico approaches for drug discovery. Expertise in multi-omics, therapeutic validation, and scientific writing is also highly valued. A special preference will be given to candidates who can integrate traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary research.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Associate will be expected to:
- Lead a small team of researchers.
- Design and conduct experiments for the development of herbal drugs.
- Organize regular team meetings and prepare comprehensive progress reports.
- Supervise and manage the work of junior project staff.
- Serve as a liaison and primary point of contact for all project-related activities and coordination with external collaborators.
The initial duration of the role is six months, with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and work progress.
