
The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) – Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research institute in Bengaluru, is inviting applications for the position of Project Coordinator for a new, significant project focused on potential zoonoses and pathogen discovery in India’s North-Eastern Region (GDP-FINER). This project, funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, involves ten collaborating institutions and is coordinated by NCBS-TIFR.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
Candidates must possess:
- Educational Qualification: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline.
- Administrative Experience: Significant prior administrative experience.
- Travel Willingness: Willingness to travel to the North-Eastern region up to two to three times a year.
- Communication: Proven communication ability (both written and oral).
- Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate information.
- Work Ethic: The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Soft Skills: Strong time-management and interpersonal skills, initiative, enthusiasm, and a flexible approach to work.
Key Duties of the Project Coordinator
The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Program Lead to undertake the following tasks:
- Project Coordination: Maintaining effective communication with collaborating scientists across participating institutions.
- Grant Management Support: Supporting post-award grant management in close coordination with NCBS’s financial and administrative teams. This includes monitoring project expenditures, handling HR matters for project staff at NCBS, overseeing procurement processes, and facilitating regulatory/government approvals.
- Reporting: Coordinating scientific reporting and other agency requirements for the grants.
- Outreach: Conducting outreach to external stakeholders on behalf of the program.
- Other Duties: Undertaking any other duties as required to assist with the project.
