
The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a recruitment drive for 26 posts of Drugs Inspector within the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department. This initiative aims to strengthen the state’s oversight in preventing the sale of adulterated food and spurious medicines, ensuring the effective implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

The recruitment offers a competitive salary under Level-8 (Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100). The total 26 posts are distributed as follows:

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following academic and professional requirements:
- Educational Qualification: A Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Medicine (with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology) from a recognized university.
- Experience (Mandatory): Candidates must possess one of the following:
- 18 months of experience in the manufacturing of Schedule ‘C’ substances.
- 18 months of experience in testing Schedule ‘C’ substances in an approved lab.
- 3 years of experience in the inspection of manufacturing firms during service as a Drug Inspector.
- Age Limit: 21 to 40 years (as of July 1, 2025), with relaxations applicable for SC/ST/OBC and Government employees of U.P.
Selection Process: The 2025 Regulations
The selection will be governed by the newly promulgated “Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulations, 2025.”
- Screening Examination: An objective-type test with Negative Marking (0.33 deduction for wrong answers).
- Interview: Qualified candidates from the screening test will be called for a personal interview.
- Final Merit: Calculated based on a weightage of 75% from the Screening Test and 25% from the Interview.

Important Notes
- Hindi Proficiency: Knowledge of Hindi is essential for all candidates.
- NOC: Candidates currently serving in Central or State government must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of the interview.
- Integrity: Any misrepresentation or use of unfair means will result in a 5-year debarment from all UPPSC examinations.
