
The Sun Pharma Science Foundation (SPSF) has launched a prestigious Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program aimed at nurturing the next generation of leaders in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. This initiative is designed to support high-caliber Indian researchers who have recently completed their PhD, providing them with a robust platform to conduct advanced research within India.
In alignment with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the fellowship seeks to strengthen the domestic research ecosystem by bridging the gap between doctoral studies and long-term careers in academia or the pharmaceutical industry.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: PhD in Biological, Biomedical, or allied subjects (e.g., Biotechnology, Microbiology, Pharmacology). Candidates who have submitted their thesis are also eligible.
- Nationality: Open only to Indian Nationals for research work within India.
- Age Limit: Must be under 30 years of age.
- Mobility Rule: The research must be conducted at a different institution and under a different mentor than the one where the PhD was completed.
The 3-Phase Selection Process
- Phase 1 (Pre-Proposal): Submission of a research concept through a sponsoring institution (must not be the candidate’s PhD alma mater).
- Phase 2 (Full Proposal): Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a detailed research plan.
- Phase 3 (Jury Interview): Personal discussion at the SPSF office. Travel and accommodation for the interview are covered by the Foundation.
Key Evaluation Metrics
Selection is highly competitive and based on:
- Candidate Profile: Academic record and quality/impact of publications.
- Proposal Quality: Scientific rigor, innovation, and national priority alignment.
- Mentor/Host Quality: Research infrastructure of the host lab and the mentor’s track record.
