The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), an institution of national importance established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, is inviting applications for its prestigious MS-PhD Programme in Biotechnology for the 2026 academic session.
Programme Highlights
Research-Based Learning: Focus on rigorous classroom teaching combined with hands-on laboratory experiments.
Structure: * Year 1: Core coursework in life sciences and biotechnology.
Year 2: Research work leading to a Master’s dissertation.
Post-Year 2: Option to exit with a Master’s degree or continue for a PhD based on performance review.
Duration: 5 to 7 years.

60% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree (Science, Engineering, or Medicine).
SC/ST/PwD
55% aggregate marks (5% relaxation).
Final Year Students
Eligible to apply (must provide proof of marks at the time of admission).
Selection Process
Entrance Exam: Indian students must appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B).
Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview to assess research aptitude.
Intake: Up to 20 Indian students and 5 Foreign students.
Fellowships & Financial Support
First 2 Years: RCB-Ramachandran Fellowship of ₹16,000 per month.
PhD Stage (Indian Students): Required to qualify for JRF/SRF from CSIR, ICMR, DBT, etc.
PhD Stage (Foreign Students): RCB-DBT International Doctoral Fellowship (approx. ₹37,000 to ₹42,000 per month based on DST guidelines).
