This specialized role focuses on pioneering medicinal chemistry research aimed at developing new agents to combat tuberculosis by targeting bacterial genetic switches.

The Project: Targeting Riboswitches

The research, led by Dr. Ambadas B. Rode, centers on a sophisticated approach to drug discovery. Instead of targeting traditional proteins, this project aims to develop synthetic small molecules that bind to riboswitches—regulatory segments of mRNA—to “turn off” essential genes in mycobacteria.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

This is a high-level research position requiring a solid foundation in synthetic chemistry and analytical techniques.

Essential Qualifications:

Education: M.Sc. in Organic, Pharmaceutical, or Medicinal Chemistry.
National Qualification: A valid score in NET, GATE, or GPAT is mandatory.
Experience: Minimum one year of post-M.Sc. research experience in organic synthesis, purification, and characterization.

Desirable Technical Skills:

Proficiency in purification methods: Distillation, Crystallization, and Chromatography.
Interpretation of complex spectral data: NMR, Mass Spectrometry (MS), IR, and HPLC.
Strong adherence to Lab Safety and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
